NEW DELHI: While the
BJP fell severely attempting its target A hundred and fifty seats in Gujarat this election, the occasion management was once at anguish to emphasise that its vote half had truly increased.
The ruling occasion which won ninety nine of the full 182 seats did, after all, see its vote half upward thrust to forty nine.1 per cent, from almost 48 per cent in 2012.
The Congress, which had in 2012 around 39 per cent of the votes, this time won forty one.four per cent of the votes.
It is evident that the margin between the BJP and Congress in the bid has been progressively lowering.
Within the polarised 2002 elections in the bid, the gap between the parties stood at 10.four per cent.
In 2007, it stood at 9.forty nine per cent; in 2012, at around 9 per cent; and in 2017, at 7.7 per cent.
An exception to this rule were the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP managed almost about 60 per cent of the votes from the bid, leaving the Congress plot at the support of with 33 per cent of the votes.
The Congress has also bettered its seat half through successive elections, from 2002 to 2017, winning seventy seven seats this election.
The BJP, on the diversified hand, has been losing seats with every election since 2002.
