Hackers threaten to leak Game of Thrones finale

LOS ANGELES: Hackers who gained access into HBO’s network systems have threatened to leak the finale of Game of Thrones Season 7.

The hackers claim to have gained access to “many HBO platforms” and that the television group braces themselves for the leak of episode six and seven of its biggest hit immediately ahead of the show’s finale at the end of the week.

The hackers have issued a list of usernames and passwords for several HBO’s social media accounts, including its primary @HBO Twitter account.

The US TV refused to pay a multimillion-dollar ransom to hackers who leaked a series of documents, emails and unaired shows which included Game of Thrones and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Chief Research Officer at risk management firm SecurityScorecard Alex Heid said, ‘Pirated content ends up on Pirate Bay within 24 hours of airing. Any show on HBO, any movie, the moment it’s released, on the first day, you see it on pirated internet streams.’
